The Feast of St. Blase recognizes the martyred Bishop of Armenia, reputed to have miraculously saved the life of a choking young boy.
It is customery to bless the throats of the faithful on February 3rd, the Feast of St. Blase, to preserve them from illnesses of the throat.  Two 51% Beeswax Candles are customarily intertwined as one at the base for this blessing.
