What Is a Scapular Medal? A scapular medal, a small metal medallion, is a symbol of the Roman Catholic faith. It is a spiritual "descendant" of the cloth scapular. The scapular medal must bear the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the "right" side; and a representation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God on the obverse side - this is usually Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It can be made of any kind of metal.

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, or the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a solemnity in the Roman Catholic Church liturgical calendar.  The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is 19 days after Pentecost Sunday, so it falls on a Friday.  The earliest date possible is May 29 ^th , as it occurred in 1818 and will occur in 2285!
